The House System

We have three thriving Houses at Pitsford School: Hesketh, Robinson and Wake, each named after the original patrons of our school. All pupils are allocated to one of the three Houses.
The House system is successfully used to strengthen vertical links within the school community, as a vehicle for building teamwork and to show mutual respect for the many talents we have in our school.
Each house has a designated teacher in charge (Mr Stoner for Hesketh, Mr Tickle for Robinson and Mrs Lyon for Wake) although House captains and the vice-captains are strongly encouraged to be the organisers and planners of events, rather than staff.
House captains and vice-captains are chosen by the teacher in charge, together with the outgoing House captain.

A number of events each year are run on a House basis; here is a list of those we have run in previous years; new suggestions are always welcomed!

  • Rugby
  • Cricket
  • Athletics (Sports Day)
  • Tennis
  • Rounders
  • Chess
  • Christmas Card Competition
  • Music (Individual and Group)
  • Singing (Solo and Group)
  • Debating (Junior and Senior)
  • General Knowledge Quiz
  • The Pitsford Run

Points gained as a result of these competitions are awarded as follows: 100, 60 and 30 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The points are accrued throughout the year, with the House cup being presented to the captain of the winning house on Speech day.
In addition to the points allocated for the above competitions, we are going to include points earned from reviews this year.
Information relating to House events and current positions will regularly be posted on the school website and also pinned onto the House notice board outside room 7.
Our competitions are always keenly contested and first place is seriously coveted….
