The Under 15 team opened their season with a very tough game in the 1st round of the RFU National Schools Vase. They faced a very strong Moulton School side.

Moulton were the first to strike after around 10 minutes of play they pushed strong Pitsford defence past its threshold and managed to cross wide on the front. Two further quick scores followed, which meant Pitsford needed some choice words under the posts. The reaction was a good one and the side rose back to the challenge, with Peter S making some charging runs from the centres and the pack beginning to gain a foothold in the game.

New to lineout lifting this year, the Pitsford team seemed to excel here, with Thomas K leaping like a salmon and ably plucking the ball from high in the air each time. The scrum also seemed to be mounting pressure on Moulton as well.

Pitsford couldn't match the pace of some of the Moulton players though and they managed to cross again before the half was out.

The second half kicked off and despite several good attempts from Pitsford they just couldn't get into the game and Moulton deservedly stretched out to a strong lead.

There were some good positives to take from the game, with some effort in training to galvanise several parts of the game. We hope to see this side develop as the season goes on.

Defeat in the first round of the Vase, means that Pitsford will progress to the Bowl rather than the Vase. They will now play the loser of the 1st round game between Bishop Stopford and Kettering Buccleuch Academy, a game we eagerly await.
