Pitsford B's started their 2017 rugby season with a 30 v 60 loss, but despite the score line there were plenty of positives from the game.

The match kicked off with Pitsford taking control for the first 10 minutes. With hard running lines from Thomas P and Toby C, the attack was relentless. Eventually the pressure told and Pitsford crossed for the first try of the day in the corner.

This however seemed to wake up the more sizeable Bilton squad. They started to move the ball very well through their backline, but a solid Pitsford defence line led by Carl M meant that they were met with vigour and resistance. So they switched play to give the possession to their powerful forwards who started to make cracks in the defence. Eventually they broke through and scored under the posts.

This was unfortunately the story for the rest of the first half, despite all the defensive efforts from the team with particular mention to the performances of Carl M, Liam R and Oliver C, Pitsford proceeded a further four tries before the half time mark.

HT 5 - 25

The second half kicked and continued very much in the same vain that the first half finished with Pitsford conceding further points.

However this didn't seem to knock the confidence of the Pitsford players.

Carl M picking up a loose ball on his own 22m line and running the length of the pitch to score seemed to revitalise all the boys.

With Harris C showing some fine passing skills to get the ever powerful James R and Toby C carrying the ball over the gain line, momentum changed very much so in the favour of Pitsford.

The belief and smiles started coming back to the Pitsford players who in the last 7/8 minutes crossed the whitewash a further 4 times.

FT 30 - 60

Great heart and desire showed throughout the game with the 'never give in' attitude eventually paying off. An incredibly exciting and good game to watch, thoroughly enjoyed by the players.
