Pitsford School's U11 rugby team continued their impressive start to the season by extending their unbeaten run to four wins from four matches, with an 11-9 victory away at Quinton House on Monday 2 November. Quinton House were the first to score, but then Pitsford School found their stride, dominated possession and scored some quick impressive tries through the Powell brothers, Elliot and Fabian.

The forward pack led by captain Jonathan Shortland ably assisted by John Adams, commanded the breakdown area, giving our backs fast clean ball, which led to a half time lead of 6-3, with two more scores from the Powell brothers and Carl Muriva scoring a fine individual try just before half time.

Despite starting the second half strongly with Fabian and Elliot collectively adding three more tries to their individual tallies, the boys then seemed to switch off their thus far excellent defensive effort, and allowed Quinton to score a string of unanswered tries to level the scores at 9-9.  It was not easy watching at this point, where Pitsford, clearly the better team, were in danger of losing a match they had dominated for long periods. Fortunately, Ned Bellamy burst through a gap to score an important try and Fabian Powell made the result safe with a trademark lightning finish.

Man of the match was Elliot Powell scoring five long range tries, but also making some important try-saving tackles in the second half.  Team: J Shortland (Captain), J Adams, P Vijayakumar, N Bellamy, E Powell, J Houghton, K R-Williams, H Chacksfield, J Pearce and C Muriva.
