On Wednesday 3 February, a squad of 42 Pitsford School pupils headed for the hills of Shropshire for the ISA Midlands Cross-Country Championships.

The Bedstone course, with its steep hills and water crossings, has always evoked mixed responses, and this year reactions ranged from "Thanks for the race, sir - it was fun" to the eloquence of blood, sweat and - courtesy of Marloe Powell and filmed in high definition on his GoPro - guts.

The pick of our teams was the Year 5 and 6 boys, all six of whom finished in the top half of a field of about 140. Joel Houghton finished 10th and qualifies for the Nationals at Princethorpe, along with veterans, Nikhil Khatri and Matt Wainwright.  Other eye-catching performances came from Sam Allwright, Oli Walker and debutant Lewis Robson.

Well done all!
