Congratulations to Pitsford School's Year 4 pupil, Fabian Powell (pictured centre) who, as the Midlands representative, won the 60m sprint at the ISA National Athletics final.  The competition took place at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on Monday 22 June.  In winning, Fabian set a new National record of 8.6 seconds for this event. As the Midlands qualifier, nine-year old Fabian also won the 150m, being two seconds faster than the next athlete.

Fabian, together with Pitsford School's Year 4 boys' team, comprising Edward Bellamy, Carl Muriva and Harris Chacksfield, finished second overall, just three points behind the winning school, and the relay team of which Fabian was part of, came second in their race, narrowly missing out on a place in the Nationals.

With a love of sports, including football, rugby, cricket and athletics, Fabian is a member of Corby Athletics Academy and has recently broken records for 60m, 75m and 150m in the U11 age group.

Fabian's brother, Elliott, who is ten-years old, also competed at the Midlands event finishing joint second in the 70m which was also a great achievement.
